KNOWLES RESEARCH LAB
University of Denver
TEACHING
Biochemistry Laboratory
A course for junior and senior biochemistry and chemistry undergraduates. This course focuses on protein purification of a variety of fluorescent proteins. Characterization, fluorimetry and independent projects on the fluorescent proteins are performed. There is also emphasis on scientific, research paper writing.

Physical Chemistry 3 - Spectroscopy
This is a course typically for junior and seniors in chemistry or biochemistry. The focus of the course is the application of quantum mechanics to understand spectroscopic tools used in chemistry. This includes NMR, EPR, fluorescence spectroscopy, circular dichroism, etc.
Biochemistry Lecture - Proteins
This is a lecture course typically for junior and seniors in biology, chemistry or biochemistry. The focus of the course is on protein synthesis, folding, structure and enzymes.

First Year Seminar - Food Chemistry
A non-majors course that focuses on the molecules in our food and how cooking alters them. This course focuses on science writing and experimentation in a kitchen laboratory setting.
Biochemistry Lecture - Nucleic Acids
This is a lecture course typically for junior and seniors in biology, chemistry or biochemistry. The focus of the course is on the chemistry behind DNA replication, transcription and protein synthesis.
Biochemistry students Tammy Le, Fendi Chung, Meghan Allen, and Selamawit Alemayehu present their poster at the annual Biochemistry Laboratory and Chemical Frontiers poster session (March 2015)
